SELF CARE DURING QUARANTINE

It is easy for many to get lost in all the happenings around us from hourly scrolling through social media. Most especially during this pandemic, it is normal for anyone to be afraid or get stressed. This can lead to an overwhelming feeling and may put the mind in distress. It is now more important to prioritize one’s mental health and overall health.

 

Taking time away from these activities is a way to refresh the mind and ease those overwhelming feelings. Engaging in or practicing self-care is a great distraction from anything relating to the pandemic and any stress triggers. Self-care is a popular term whose meaning is most times misinterpreted and importance underrated.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Getting it done at the spa may not be possible due to the pandemic. In this article, We will be sharing all you need to know to get waxed at home.

 

WHAT IS WAXING?

 

Waxing is a process that involves hair removal from the roots using a wax strip. With regularly waxing, the hair might start to thin and grow more slowly.

1. Waxing lasts longer than shaving because the hairs are removed from the roots.

2. Waxing is less susceptible to irritation and minimizes ingrown hairs.

3. Waxing prevents the hair from growing back faster, this way your skin is left feeling smoother for a long time.

4. As opposed to popular belief, waxing is not always painful when done the right way. Waxing is also fast and convenient.

 

HOW TO WAX AT HOME LIKE A PRO?

 

Waxing at home or in a spa, if done properly can be very enjoyable instead of painful.

Below are steps to a successful and enjoyable waxing moment.

 

 Get your supplies ready and pick the right wax: Depending on what you’d like to use, get them ready ahead of the time you’d be waxing and pick a wax suitable for your skin type. 

 

 Make sure your hair is the right length: When the hair is too short, the wax won’t get enough grip and when your hair is too long the result may not be pleasant. Around ¼ inch of hair growth can be waxed.

 

 Prep your skin: A clean skin helps the wax to stick well to the hair. Clean your skin with  a pre-waxing cleanser.

 

 Apply the wax properly: The proper way to apply wax is in the opposite direction of hair growth. Let it sit for a few seconds (15), remove gently against the direction of hair growth.

 

 After waxing you may apply a after care oil or soothing spray to reduce inflammation and seal hair follicles. Exfoliating and moisturizing properly is necessary after waxing care for your skin.
